Device Identification & Topology Readability

This release sharpens how Scanopy recognises what's on your network with deeper device fingerprinting. The topology visualization features a few additional refinements and improvements from v0.19.0.

New Features

  • Capture TLS certificates during scanning and use issuer details to identify services that would otherwise look generic.
  • Identify Apple devices through their lockdown service, reporting exact model and OS.
  • Recognise a much wider range of consumer and smart-home hardware, including Kasa plugs, Bose and Cast speakers, smart TVs, myQ openers, Brother printers, mesh access points, Pulse shade hubs and Schlage locks.
  • Add libvirt (KVM) support as a hypervisor, including manual assignment of guests to their host.

Improvements

  • SNMPv1 and SNMPv2c are now one "SNMP v1/v2c" credential type. Same-community v1 and v2c credentials were merged, and the v1 credential's name and description are gone. Accordingly, the API no longer accepts SnmpV1 or SnmpV2c. Use SnmpCommunity.
  • Rework topology layouts so Layer 2 hosts are ordered by switch port, Layer 3 elements are grouped by device type, and cards sit closer to what they connect to.
  • Require a target when creating a credential, and flag existing credentials that aren't assigned to anything.
  • Make mDNS discovery more thorough by querying every relevant service type and repeating queries within the listening window, so more devices are found on the first pass.
  • Warn when Proxmox guests exist that the scan can't reach, so missing VMs are no longer a mystery.
  • Redesign the credential and daemon setup wizards with numbered, carded steps, clearer field groups, and assigned hosts shown directly on each card.

Bug Fixes

  • Fix stray IP addresses that were detached from the devices they belong to.
  • Stop overly broad service rules from producing false positives, including devices incorrectly identified as switches.
  • Fix popover lists scrolling the page behind them, and keep the options panel from being covered by the minimap expand button.
  • Update bundled dependencies to address security advisories.
